Welcome to my blog! I’m thrilled to have this opportunity to share my experience as an aspiring singer-songwriter with you. During Covid-19 lockdown, like many others, I found myself feeling isolated and longing for connection. In the midst of those challenging times, I discovered solace and inspiration through songs and poetry.

During my moments of solitude, I found refuge in the music that defined my youth, and stumbled upon a familiar name evoking nostalgic memories from my teenage years – the Norwegian band a-ha. I delved deeper into their story and discovered the remarkable talents of Magne Furuholmen, the band’s keyboard player. I learned that he was not only a musician but also a successful artist in his own right, exploring the realms of poetry, songwriting, painting, sculpture, and more.

Motivated by Magne’s multifaceted artistic journey, I embarked on my own creative exploration. At first, I found comfort in writing poems, pouring my emotions onto paper, and allowing my words to dance together in rhythmic harmony. A friend recognised my new passion and encouraged me to pursue songwriting. She believed in my creative potential and urged me not to let the absence of musical knowledge hold me back.

I could have learned how to write music or play an instrument, but instead I made a decision to learn how to sing. I realised that by harnessing the power of my voice — despite never having sung before and doubting my own abilities — I might some day be able to collaborate with talented musicians and breathe life into my lyrics. As soon as lockdown restrictions eased, I eagerly sought out a local singing teacher to guide me on this exciting musical adventure.

Little did I know that my singing teacher’s connections would open up a whole new world for me. Hannah, a wonderful vocal coach, introduced me to her brother Richard, a music producer and songwriting tutor, who shared her passion for nurturing budding talent. With his guidance and expertise, I immersed myself in the process of not only honing my songwriting skills but also learning the art of storytelling through music.

Finally, after months of dedicated effort and thanks to the invaluable guidance of my two teachers, I had managed to assemble a small collection of songs capturing the essence of my emotions and experiences. I selected one of them for recording, curious to see how far my songwriting project would take me. Richard skillfully composed musical arrangements that complemented my heartfelt lyrics and emotive melody, resulting in a production that exceeded my expectations.

On May 12th, 2023, I released my very first single, Good Side of You, as an independent artist on all major music platforms. It was a moment of immense pride and joy as I shared my song with friends and family. And now, I am inviting you to join me on this journey. Through my posts, I will continue to share my experiences, progress, and creative process. Join me as I explore the intricacies of songwriting, embrace vulnerability, and strive to craft melodies that resonate with the human experience.
